LeBron James recently made a bonehead comment about winning the MVP award.

The Los Angeles Lakers star struggled with his health down the stretch this season and last, and he apparently thinks his ankle injury in 2020-21 stopped him from being the MVP frontrunner last year. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

In fact, he said earlier in the week he was the league’s 2020-2021 MVP when he was healthy, according to Ryan Ward.

It is truly impressive how LeBron manages to make everything about himself. You almost have to respect his ability to get the spotlight on himself.

Did LeBron have a strong season last year from a stats standpoint? Without a doubt, but the Lakers were barely above mediocre during the 2020-21 campaign. They were far from amazing, and while LeBron missed some time, there’s no excuse for them not being better.

MVP contenders, like Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid this season, play on teams actually capable of making deep runs in the postseason. The Lakers were not only not contenders last season, but they didn’t even make much postseason noise. They didn’t even advance out of the first round!

How the hell does LeBron think putting up stats but not winning at a high level makes him “MVP of the season”? It’s so tone-deaf that it’s honestly stunning.

I can’t wait to see what bonehead comment LeBron makes next!
