MSNBC’s Ari Melber expressed concern Monday that elections could be swayed through censorship while lamenting Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter.

Reacting to the news that Twitter’s board agreed to sell the social media platform to Musk for $44 billion, Melber told viewers to pay attention since “the world’s richest person, who is very good at accumulating wealth and power, thinks this is worth spending tens of billions of dollars on because, frankly, he thinks it’s that valuable and he thinks it may help him.”

“Trump, by the way, today is claiming that he won’t even return to Twitter if the ban were lifted but few take what Donald Trump says seriously on that score,” Melber said. “So, what is happening here? This is far bigger than Trump or Elon Musk. They are symptoms of the world we are living in where technology has outpaced any of our ability to deal with it.”

Melber then said he worries that Musk won’t “have to explain” himself since he is the sole owner of Twitter.

“You don’t even have to be transparent,” Melber continued before bringing up possible election interference.

“You could secretly ban one party’s candidate, or all of its candidates, all of its nominees, or you could just secretly turn down the reach of their stuff and turn up the reach of something else and the rest of us might not even find out about it until after the elections.”

“Elon Musk says this is all to help people because he is just a free speech, philosophically clear open minded helper, a world helper, if you will. Is that true? Should you take him at his word?”

Outkick founder Clay Travis mocked Melber’s segment.

“MSNBC ‘talent’ suddenly realizes the owners of Twitter can rig the entire site. This is amazing to watch. Does he not realize all of this was done to Republicans?”

Digital strategist Greg Price asked a “serious question.” (RELATED: ‘We Have A List’: Pundits And Democrats Plan To Hold Trump Supporters Accountable)

“I’ve been looking for a new rock to live under and was wondering which one you use.”

Twitter locked The New York Post (NYP) out of its account for more than a week after the outlet published an article about Hunter Biden’s laptop. The story exposed emails showing Hunter Biden and his father, President Joe Biden, met with an executive from the Ukrainian gas company Burisma in 2015. Twitter immediately began censoring the story and preventing users from tweeting the link or sending it via direct private message.

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was also locked out of her personal account for sharing the NYP article.

Following the election, several prominent left-leaning persons called for Biden to censor conservatives. Crooked Media Founder Tommy Vietor published a piece explaining “Why Joe Biden Must Sideline Fox,” claiming it isn’t a real news network.

CNN’s Brian Stelter compiled a list of conservative media he claimed was spreading “disinformation” about the election, including Fox News, the Daily Caller, Newsmax and OAN.
