“Black Bird” looks like it’s going to be an incredibly dark show.

The plot of the Apple+ series with Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser, according the preview’s YouTube description, is as follows:

When high school football hero and decorated policeman’s son Jimmy Keene (Taron Egerton) is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison, he is given the choice of a lifetime — enter a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane and befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall (Paul Walter Hauser), or stay where he is and serve his full sentence with no possibility of parole. Keene quickly realizes his only way out is to elicit a confession and find out where the bodies of several young girls are buried before Hall’s appeal goes through. But is this suspected killer telling the truth? Or is it just another tale from a serial liar? This dramatic and captivating story subverts the crime genre by enlisting the help of the very people put behind bars to solve its mysteries.

If the preview is an accurate indication of things to come, fans are in for an absolutely bone-chilling experience as Keene tries to get the truth out of Larry Hall. (REVIEW: ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Ends With The Possible Deaths Of Multiple Characters)

Who feels like they’re not going to be able to sleep tonight after watching that trailer? Yeah, my hand is straight up in the air. That was an absolutely horrifying preview.

I honestly feel like someone is now watching me with bad intentions after watching it.

Now, for those of you interested, you can google the actual events “Black Bird” is based on if you want to do a deep dive. Google is always a friend in times like these.

However, as you all know, I enjoy going into true stories with as little information as possible if I’m not already informed on the subject. Well, that’s the situation here, and I’m more than okay flying blind.
