Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley called for the impeachment of U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland after the FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago Monday.

Many Republicans and some Democrats slammed the raid as an unprecedented, politically motivated attack from a federal agency on a potential presidential candidate. Hawley called for Merrick Garland, the U.S. Attorney General, to be impeached and for the FBI to be completely reformed.

“The raid by Joe Biden’s FBI on the home of a former president who is also Biden’s chief political opponent is an unprecedented assault on democratic norms and the rule of law,” Hawley wrote. “Biden has taken our republic into dangerous waters.”

“At a minimum, Garland must resign or be impeached. The search warrant must be published. Christoper Wray must be removed. And the FBI reformed top to bottom,” he said. (RELATED: ‘Sever All Ties’: Republican Florida State Rep Calls For The Arrest Of FBI Agents)

Hawley’s office responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s inquiry but did not offer a further comment.
