The decomposing body of a 75-year-old man was discovered Wednesday inside a Brooklyn residence that reportedly contained schematics for weapons of mass destruction and suspected biohazard material.

Police were called to the apartment just before 1:00 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a wellness check request, the NY Daily News reported. The man was found dead in a seated position inside of the home, the outlet continued. Neighbors had complained of a strong odor emanating from the home, News 12 reported.

Sources claimed the man appeared to have been dead for at least a week, but no cause of death has been determined at this time, according to the New York Post. The street around the home was blocked off throughout Wednesday as the New York Police Department (NYPD), FBI agents, and NYPD’s Joint Terrorism Task Force investigated the scene, ABC7 noted.

The Health Department and Department of Environmental Protection, as well as other agencies, were also present, NY Daily news noted. Responders dressed in hazmat suits investigated the scene. (RELATED: REPORT: Coroner Says He Cried, Couldn’t Eat For A Week In Most Heinous Crime He’s Ever Seen)

Canisters with biohazard labels were found inside the property along with diagrams showing plans for weapons of mass destruction, a police source told the New York Post. Air quality inside of the apartment was considered safe.
