Musical artist Michelle Branch was arrested for domestic assault Thursday morning at her Tennessee home after allegedly slapping her estranged husband Patrick Carney.
Nashville police were dispatched to the couples’ residence at 2 a.m. for a possible domestic disturbance, according to TMZ. Branch allegedly admitted to police that she had slapped Carney in the face “one or two times” after she reportedly discovered that he had cheated on her, according to TMZ.

Police took Branch into custody and her bail at $1,000, though she was released from custody to take care of the couple’s 6-month-old child, the outlet reported.
Branch accused Carney of cheating in a now-deleted tweet and sought to end their three-year marriage, according to TMZ. “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” Branch told the outlet on Thursday.
