Newsmax host Eric Bolling and former National Security Advisor John Bolton got into a screaming match Thursday night over former President Donald Trump’s foreign policy.

Bolling noted how Bolton said in a 2020 interview with ABC News that he believed the U.S. was in a “weaker position around the world” and that the U.S. had “given up leadership in a wide variety of areas.”

Bolling then asked whether Bolton believes the U.S. is safer now under President Joe Biden.

“Ambassador, under Biden, we have China threatening us, we have Russia threatening us, you have a $300,000 bounty on your head,” Bolling said. “How in the world could you think that we’re safer now than we were under President Trump when he was willing to put missiles into Syrian airbases with Russians on the base? What’s going on here, sir?”

“He didn’t understand fundamentally much of anything about international affairs,” Bolton responded. “His decisions were not based on a coherent philosophy or a coherent policy.” (RELATED: ‘Embarrassed At The Low Price’: Bolton Provides Response To Attempted Assassination)

“But we were safer,” Bolling interjected.

Bolton said Trump “signed a deal with the Taliban” and blamed him for the Afghanistan withdrawal.

“Did that make us safer, Eric?” Bolton asked.

“You know what made us less safe,” Bolling shot back. “Is when Biden pulled us out of Afghanistan, 13 Americans died, and now—”

“That was Trump’s deal,” Bolton responded.

“And now the Taliban tells us, ‘Back off, don’t kill al-Qaida!” Bolling continued. “Are you out of your mind, sir?”

“Same thing they would’ve done under Donald Trump. Who cut the deal, Eric?”

The two then began talking over one another before Bolton said Bolling didn’t “know” what he was talking about.

“Read the deal!” Bolton said. “Have you ever read the deal?”

“Oh stop!” Bolling responded.

“I know you gotta go, before you’re embarrassed even further,” Bolton shot back.

“I’m embarrassed? You’re embarrassed for not knowing what Trump was going to do and hiding behind some false narrative that Trump wasn’t prepared for foreign policy when we were safer for four years, sir.”

Bolling told Bolton it was “good having you on,” to which Bolton said “you’re hopeless, Eric.”

The Department of Justice announced Aug. 10 that they charged an Iranian operative who was allegedly plotting to kill Bolton in “retaliation for the January 2020 death of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps — Qods Force … commander Qasem Soleimani.”
