A mother and her 2-year-old were struck by a driver Wednesday as he fled a traffic stop in New York City, the New York Post reported.

Footage of the incident was caught on a surveillance camera, showing the black SUV speeding away from New York police officers and driving directly into the mother as she crossed a street in Queens with her child in a stroller. The driver can then be seen driving into a man before speeding off.

The mother and child were just a few feet away from the driver when he hit them and threw the mother into a parked car, as seen in the surveillance footage. The video appeared to show that her toddler was driven right over as onlookers screamed.

Civilians and officers immediately ran over to help all of those injured. The mother only injured her knee, while her infant daughter sustained a hurt wrist, the New York Post reported. The man also sustained a knee injury as he was thrown into the back of a commercial truck, the outlet continued.

Officers chose to remain at the scene and help the driver’s victims instead of pursing the suspect, the New York Post noted in another article. (RELATED: REPORT: Woman Who Allegedly Killed Two Cyclists Says She Was Uncontrollably Defecating On Herself)

All three victims of the hit-and-run were taken to Wyckoff Hospital, the New York Post continued. Police claimed they originally pulled the driver over for operating a vehicle on a suspended license. The car was later found in Brooklyn, while the suspect still remains at large, according to the New York Post.
