San Diego Padres’ players confronted teammate Jurickson Profar after he hesitated during a play in a game against the Miami Marlins.

The Marlins’ Miguel Rojas hit a whopper during Monday night’s game, sending the ball flying into center left field before hitting a wall. Profar got the ball, but appeared to hesitate once he had it, allowing Rojas to take third.

Subsequent video footage shows Profar’s teammates talking to him in the dugout. They appear frustrated, though right fielder Juan Soto said they were actually giving Profar some support, according to MLB.

“We [were] just trying to help him out,” Soto reportedly said. “No matter what’s going on on the play, just keep playing baseball. Sometimes, we feel down, we feel uncomfortable with it. But we just got to keep playing baseball. We’re humans, we make errors.”

Profar said he made a “mental mistake” during the game.

“I just had to throw it in,” Profar said after the game, according to MLB. “I made a mental mistake right there. I just, it happened, and I take full responsibility for it. And it won’t happen again.”

The announcer suggested Profar was taunting Rojas to take third. San Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin defended Profar, saying it appeared the outfielder was trying to get Ha-Seong Kim in position for a cutoff throw, according to MLB.

“I think he was trying to motion Kim to get in a cutoff position,” Melvin said. “I believe that’s what happened, and then [he] just took too long and didn’t get thrown in there in time.” (RELATED: Yankees Slugger Anthony Rizzo Has Meltdown After Umpire Doesn’t Let Him Take Base)

Rojas, who appeared to slow down as he rounded second base but then continued on to third, also was a bit confused with the play, MLB reported.

“I don’t really know what happened. I just saw that he was doing some kind of motion over there … I watched the replay after and I don’t know if he was like [motioning that way] to me or to his shortstop. I don’t know. I’m just glad that it worked out, and I made it to third base.”
