Writer Sam Harris said any “left-wing conspiracy” to prevent former President Donald Trump’s reelection is “warranted” during an interview released Wednesday.

Harris claimed Hunter Biden’s alleged corruption is incomparable to Trump’s, arguing his laptop does “not stack up” to Trump University. The writer then called any attempt to prevent Trump from reentering the Oval Office “justifiable.”

“Hunter Biden literally could have had the corpses of children in his basement, I would not have cared,” he began. “There’s nothing, it’s Hunter Biden, it’s not Joe Biden. Whatever the scope of Joe Biden’s corruption is…it is infinitesimal compared to the corruption we know Trump is involved in. It’s like a firefly to the sun.”

“It doesn’t even stack up to Trump University. Trump University, as a story, is worse than anything that could be in Hunter Biden’s laptop, in my view,” Harris continued. “Now that doesn’t answer the people who say ‘it’s still completely unfair to not have looked at the laptop in a timely way and to have shut down the New York Post’s Twitter account. Like that, that’s a left-wing conspiracy to deny the presidency to Donald Trump.’ Absolutely it was. But I think it was warranted.”

The author was referencing Twitter locking the New York Post’s account for seven days after releasing a story Oct. 15 featuring emails from Biden’s laptop. The emails included the alleged details of a meeting of Biden and his father, President Joe Biden, with an executive of the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma. Many in the media and the intelligence community, as well as left-wing figures, dismissed the laptop as “Russian disinfo” for several months until The New York Times and The Washington Post reported its authenticity, per Politico. The Times noted that prosecutors obtained evidence of Biden’s possible tax liability and criminal charges from a “cache of files that appears to have come from a laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop.”

The Post detailed Biden’s reported financial ties to the Chinese energy company, CEFC China Energy, found in the emails from the laptop. The outlet authenticated 22,000 emails from the laptop nearly a year and a half after the Daily Caller News Foundation.

An interviewer pressed Harris on his willingness to use a left-wing conspiracy to prevent a candidate from being democratically elected. Harris responded it “doesn’t matter” if the conspiracy prevents an “existential threat” from becoming president.

“We have a massive problem. We have an existential threat. Politically speaking, I consider Trump an existential threat to our democracy,” Harris said. “He’s not going to destroy the world … at no point was I suggesting we should stuff ballots or actually break the machinery of democracy. But political opinion is already being completely inundated with misinformation, biased takes, half-truths and outright lies.”

He claimed that an average American would be a better president than Trump, comparing the former president to Infowars chief Alex Jones. The former president’s reelection, Harris added, would be “catastrophic” to the nation.

“A smaller problem would be for some billionaire to buy The New York Times then give it to Alex Jones to run. That would be a catastrophic loss and mistake, but that’s a smaller problem than getting Trump reelected,” he concluded.
