A woman in her mid-30s was shot and killed early Friday morning during a home invasion in Everett, Washington.

Snohomish County law enforcement were called to a home in the area of unincorporated Everett around 3 a.m. on Friday, KOMO News reported. A male individual told police that three black males broke into the home, engaged the man in a fight, and fired shots through the property, the outlet continued.

The man suffered minor injuries but was able to flee to a neighboring property with his child after the suspect allegedly shot his wife in the head, killing her, KOMO News reported. The man said one of the suspects was wearing a mask and another may have had a painted face.

Three other homes have been burglarized in the area, but not in the specific neighborhood, local law enforcement told KOMO News. At present, police say none of the crimes are connected. (RELATED: Six Major US Cities Report Historic Increases In Violent Crime)
