World Wrestling Entertainment announced Thursday that they will be expanding their flagship developmental program further internationally with the launch of NXT Europe beginning in 2023.

Shawn Michaels, who works as the vice president of Talent Development and Creative said, “following the success of our live events and talent identification efforts throughout all of Europe, we believe this is the perfect time to expand NXT beyond the UK,” in a statement posted to WWE.com.

Since 2010, NXT has been a show intended to help professional wrestlers reach the WWE main roster. It has worked as the perfect breeding ground to develop new talent to see if they swim or sink in front of smaller, live television audiences. The program has produced WWE champions such as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Big E and others. (NFL, NFLPA Agree To Suspend Deshaun Watson For 11 Games And Fine Him $5 Million)

The announcement of NXT Europe will help inch WWE closer to globalizing their product. Over the years, WWE has done shows all over the world. They have held shows in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Italy, Japan, Australia, and more.
WWE’s executive vice president of Talent Relations, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, tweeted his response to the news of NXT Europe, saying how WWE seeks for the best talent all across the globe.

It will be interesting seeing what European wrestlers will bring to the table of professional wrestling to get on WWE’s radar.
