Irene Bedard, the actress that voiced Pocahontas in the animated movie, was arrested in Greene County, Ohio for disorderly conduct Friday.

The police were called to conduct a welfare check after a woman was spotted asleep in the bushes on a residential street, according to TMZ. By the time police arrived, they located Bedard in a parking lot nearby. She was displaying troubling, erratic behavior, speaking calmly to the police one moment, and then crying and showing a myriad of emotions the next, according to TMZ.

Police reported that Bedard was in the company of a woman named Sheila, who provided them with the contact information of someone that could assist her, as it seemed she was in need of some care, according to TMZ. The mere mention of the fact that someone would have to intervene in this situation appeared to trigger Bedard, who then began to scream uncontrollably.

Police reported that after screaming about not wanting anyone else to be called, she ran away from them, nearly knocking over a table that was displayed on the sidewalk, then suddenly her demeanor changed yet again. She came to a sudden stop, and continued to speak calmly with the police for a few brief moments, before she made mention of a previous altercation with police and becoming enraged once again.

The situation she was referencing was reportedly in relation to incidents which transpired in November 2020 during which time Bedard was arrested twice in three days. Bodycam footage of that arrest shows her aggressive behavior toward the police who were attempting to speak with her. During this most recent incident, police say Bedard continued to scream at them, forcing them to back her into a large window and grab her wrist to prevent her from possibly shattering the glass, since her behavior was unpredictable, according to TMZ.  Bedard struggled with the police in effort to pull away from their grip, which resulted in the requirement for them to restrain the troubled actress with handcuffs.

She proceeded to test the patience of the officers by becoming dead weight when they were attempting to walk her to the police car. The police reported they had to hold her up which complicated the transfer into their vehicle, according to TMZ.

Bedard was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to Greene County Jail. She was released from custody Sunday.
