Dramatic footage from Italy captured the moment a 40-meter (131-foot) luxury super yacht was swallowed up by the ocean.

The luxury vessel, named My Saga, set sail from Turkey’s Gallipoli Peninsula on Saturday night en route to Milazzo, Sicily, but began experiencing trouble 15 km (9.3 miles) away from Italy’s Catanzaro Marina, according to The Independent. The footage was released by the Italian coast guard and shows the ship as it began slowly tilting to one side before sinking completely out of view, according to the New York Post.

The captain sent out a stress call upon realizing the vessel was in trouble.  The coast guard attempted to tow the yacht to safety, but didn’t stand a chance against the force of the water. They were forced to abandon their efforts and could do nothing more than look on as the ship slipped beneath the waves, the Daily Mail reported.

The video shows the power of the ocean as it gulps up the expensive yacht with ease. The massiveness of the vessel doesn’t pose a challenge at all as the ship goes down to Davy Jones’ Locker. The yacht’s stern pointed to the sky and rocked slowly back and forth, sinking deeper and deeper into the water. Officials have confirmed that nine people were rescued from the boat just before it sank and became an invisible addition to the ocean’s many hidden treasures. The cause of the incident remains under investigation, according to the Post.
