An employee at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. reportedly admitted that the institution performed “gender-affirming” hysterectomies on children younger than 16, according to a recorded phone call.

The employee told Chaya Raichik, the journalist who runs Libs of TikTok, that the hospital commonly performed hysterectomies on 16-year-olds and has done them on even younger children, according to a recorded phone call Raichik published. The hospital then claimed it does not perform “gender-affirming” surgeries on minors in a Thursday statement.

The hospital confirmed that the call occurred but claimed it was an operator speaking, not a health care provider, according to Fox News.

Raichik pretended she was seeking a hysterectomy as part of her 16-year-old child’s gender transition in her call with the hospital.

“So they would do it for that age?” she asked.

“Yes,” the employee said.

“Okay great. Is it a common procedure that you guys do for that age?” Raichik asked.

“Yes, we have all different types of age groups that come in for that,” the employee said.

“Just out of curiosity, what’s the youngest age you would do it on?” Raichik asked.

“I’m not sure, but I have seen younger kids. And I’m not, you know, due to HIPAA I’m not allowed to say that, but I have seen younger kids. Younger than your child’s age,” the employee said, clarifying that she was specifically referring to “gender-affirming” hysterectomies.

The hospital denied it performed the surgeries in a statement to Fox News.

“Children’s National Hospital is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all and to serving our LGBTQ+ patients and families in the full spectrum of their care,” the hospital spokesman said. “We do not provide gender-affirming surgery for anyone under the age of 18. We do not provide hormone therapy to children before puberty begins. Care is individualized for each patient and always involves families making decisions in coordination with a team of highly trained pediatric specialists.”

The hospital website included “gender-affirming” hysterectomies on its list of gynecological services offered to patients aged 0-21, according to archived web pages, but the website has since been updated and no longer includes gender-related surgeries and hysterectomies. A spokesperson told Fox News that the list was a flaw in its website. (RELATED: Major Medical Org Distances Itself From Child Sex Change Treatments)
