Democratic Washington Rep. Pamila Jayapal took down a commemorative 9/11 tweet Sunday night that seemed to mourn the nineteen highjackers.

“Today we remember 2,996 who were killed and all those who lost their lives while serving in the forever wars that followed,” she wrote in her Sunday afternoon post.

2,977 innocent lives were lost in total from the terror attacks, according to NBC News. The remaining nineteen deaths seemingly refer to the nineteen terrorists involved in crashing the airplanes. (RELATED: Dem Senator Invokes January 6 In 9/11 Interview)

Jayapal took the tweet down at around 10:30 p.m. after Twitter personalities criticized her inclusion of the attackers.

“Jayapal is apparently also remembering the 19 hijackers today. 2,977 were killed in the attacks,” Chuck Ross, an investigative reporter for the Washington Free Beacon, tweeted.

Republican Texas House Candidate Chip Roy chimed in, tweeting, “2977 ‘were killed.’ The 19 terrorists killed them.”

“Ambitious Crossover Attempt” cohost Noam Blum jested that Jayapal is mourning 9/11 terrorist Mohammad Atta “to own the cons.”

Despite taking down the tweet at around 10:30 p.m., Jayapal has not issued a correction or apology. It is unclear whether she intentionally included nineteen terrorists or if she merely Googled “how many people died in 9/11,” which yields the same number. Jayapal’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller’s attempt to reach out.
