The best states for fans of unidentified flying objects and aerial phenomena (UFO/UAPs) was revealed Friday.

A research team with Love Lawn reportedly “pored over countless X-files” to reach its conclusion. The analysis featured four different rankings: UFO/UAP sightings, community, sighting potential, and entertainment. The team found that the best state for UFO sightings is California. Texas is overall a close second.

Rounding out the Top 5 were Florida, New York, and Arizona, while the Dakotas, Maine, Vermont, and Montana  ranked as the five worst states, according to the study. California also ranked top of the list for UFO fandom and hobbyists, with the most conventions taking place in the Golden State.

The study comes as Congress pushes for greater exploration and disclosure of UFO/UAP sightings. The Department of Defense opened its All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO),  as mandated in the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act, which Congress passed earlier this year. Despite a greater push for disclosure, the U.S. Navy recently rejected a Freedom of Information Act request for videos of UFO/UAPs, stating that the release would “harm national security.” For now, we may have to depend on our own sightings in the sky and reports from multiple military witnesses for evidence of potential extraterrestrial life.
