Analysis released Monday by Business Name Generator (BNG) uncovered the most distracting songs for the workplace, as well as those that are said to inspire productivity.

If you’re anything like me, music is the only thing other than coffee that keeps the productivity of a workday going. Rarely will any song take me away from the task at hand (unless it gets me singing, like “Moving” by Supergrass) but, according to analysis from BNG, Hailee Steinfeld’s “Let Me Go” is the most distracting workplace song.

One can assume it’s the most distracting because it causes the ears to bleed uncontrollably from the sheer overproduction. Just kidding. Steinfeld’s hit was ranked #1 for distraction after a group of participants completed a written task while listening to background music, according to a press release from BNG.

Scoring was based on the number of words typed per minute, the accuracy percentage, and time it took to complete the test, BNG noted. Also found to be  the most distracting were “Riptide” by Vance Joy, “The Business” by Tiesto, and “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals, three of my favorite songs ever.

Apparently the best song to listen to for productivity is “Memories” by Maroon 5. I personally don’t hate myself enough to listen to this track either, but there’s a fairly comprehensive playlist cultivated by BNG for you to test out yourself. Some other top groups/bands with songs for productivity included Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Shawn Mendes, OneRepublic and Justin Bieber.

The songs were chosen from the top 30 songs across 15 work-related playlists identified on Spotify, BNG noted. The researchers also tested people against the most common “focus”-related tracks on the music streaming platform. Despite the findings, I still think I’ll be sticking to a mishmash of Morgan Wallen, Slipknot, Great Good Fine Ok and Jai Paul. Oh, and of course John Rich.
