Velma Is A Lesbian, New Scooby-Doo Movie Confirms

A teaser video seems to confirm that Velma, the character in the new Scooby-Doo movie is a lesbian.

“Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo” is the latest animated Scooby movie available for digital download, and a snippet of the movie has been making its rounds all over the internet, showing fans a glimpse of Velma crushing on a female character named Coco. Velma’s character is seen walking into a new frame, then she suddenly stops and admires Coco. “Incredible glasses,” “Obviously brilliant,” and “Loves animals,” Velma notes, as her glasses fog up and she falls for Coco.

Velma stays true to her character and lets out her famous saying, “Jinkies,” as she becomes giddy and exits the scene. Fans are going wild over the confirmation of Velma’s sexual orientation and the internet is blowing up with comments. (RELATED:

In another video teaser that’s being shown online, Coco references Velma as “the cute one,” during a casual conversation.

It has been heavily hinted that Velma might be gay, but prior to the release of “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo,” there has been some ambiguity surrounding her sexual orientation. Some believed her to be bisexual, some guessed she was gay, while others shrugged it off as a movie-mystery.

The supervising producer of “Scooby-Doo, Mystery,” Tony Cervone, maintains that Velma’s identity was pre-scripted in the past, according to Buzzfeed, Cervone says she has always been a lesbian, albeit a toned down one in previous films.

Velma’s future relationships have opened up a new realm for upcoming Scooby-Doo content, making the cartoon, and the film, truly timeless.
