Two members of FBI leadership involved in briefing Facebook prior to its decision to censor Hunter Biden laptop coverage were Democrat donors in 2020, the Washington Free Beacon first reported Monday.

Campaign finance records show that Foreign Influence Task Force unit chief Laura Dehmlow and the FBI’s San Francisco cyber division head Elvis Chan, donated $60 and $50 respectively to Democratic Georgia Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. Both Dehmlow and Chan were “involved” in conversations between the FBI and Facebook in the lead up to social media platform’s decision to censor reports surrounding First Son Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop and its content, according to a court filing released Monday by the Missouri Attorney General’s office.

Facebook identified Dehmlow and Chan in response to a subpoena for all communication and interactions with members of the Biden administration, but did not go into detail about the nature of their communication. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said in August that the FBI had warned him and his company about “Russian disinformation” right before the Hunter Biden laptop story broke.

Twitter also censored reportage of the laptop based on information from unnamed members of the intelligence community. The platform founder, Jack Dorsey, later stated that he regretted the decision.

While Dorsey would not provide the identities of those who told him and his company to censor the story as Russian disinformation, Chan has said publicly that he “was very involved in helping to protect the U.S. elections in 2020,” and had met with tech and social media companies “on a weekly basis” to share intelligence on “unusual” activity on their platforms. Various members of the press and elected officials have called for investigations into political bias in the intelligence communities, and for those responsible for creating the disinformation campaign around Hunter Biden’s laptop to be held accountable.

The FBI declined to comment when contacted by The Daily Caller. Facebook did not respond to the same request.
