Authorities released dramatic body cam footage showing the moment a wounded Connecticut officer takes out a suspect who reportedly shot two cops fatally.

The grisly incident unfolded Oct. 12 around 10:42 p.m., when three Bristol Police officers, Sgt. Dustin DeMonte, officer Alex Hamzy and Alec Iurato responded to a 911 call at 310 Redstone Hill Road after which they believe was from a Nicholas Brutcher. Authorities said police were responding to a domestic dispute between the Nicholas and Nathan Brutcher.

Upon arrival, authorities met Nathan Brutcher at the side of the house and ordered him to put his hands up. However as soon Nathan stepped out of the house, Nicholas fired “well over eighty round[s]” and attacked the officers from behind, according to the Bristol Police report. Both DeMonte and Hamzy were fatally shot while Iurato was wounded.

Footage shows Iurato radioing for help.

“Shots fired, shots fired, more cars, send everyone,” Iurato could be heard pleading before he walks toward a tree saying “oh fuck, oh fuck.” (RELATED: K9 Officer, Murder Suspect Killed In Police Shootout)

Iurato managed to get to the back to one of the patrol cars and fire a fatal shot at Nicholas.

The inspector general’s office is investigating the incident and say preliminary investigations show Iurato’s shooting was justified.

Iurato was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries before being released.
