Authorities arrested a woman after a 12-year-old girl was found asphyxiated, bound, slashed and stuffed in a suitcase near her home in northeast Paris, according to reports.

Authorities identified the victim as Lola Daviet and have arrested a homeless woman, 24, and a man, 43, in connection with the murder, according to The Guardian. An investigation was opened for “rape committed with acts of torture and barbarism” and for “the concealing of a corpse,” according to the outlet.

Lola’s father said she was missing after she failed to return from school, The Guardian continued. Lola’s mother posted a screenshot on Facebook of surveillance footage showing Lola going into the building where she lived with her parents, either walking with or followed by the alleged suspect. Her mother pleaded for help finding her missing daughter. (RELATED: Chicago Woman Arrested For Allegedly Murdering Landlord And Stuffing Her In Freezer)

The CCTV captured Lola and the 24-year-old woman together Friday, shortly after Lola left school, according to The Guardian. Witnesses later saw the suspect pushing a large plastic suitcase around the area, according to the outlet.

A homeless man found the suitcase Friday evening inside a courtyard near where Lola lived with her family, The Guardian continued. Lola’s body was found tied with tape, and she had cut wounds on her throat, according to Fox News, which cited France’s BFMTV. Lola had also reportedly been asphyxiated.

The 24-year-old female suspect in custody is reportedly unemployed and homeless, and she allegedly suffers “psychiatric problems.”

The investigation is ongoing.
