Tom Brady spoke about how consuming his work is during a conversation with NBA star Kevin Durant in an episode of “Let’s Go!” with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray.

The conversation took place amid Brady’s highly publicized alleged marital breakdown, and may have been a low-key admission of guilt by the professional football player.

“Whatever you may say – ‘Oh man, I want to make sure I spend a little more time doing this during the season,” Brady said, “The reality is when it comes down to it, your competitiveness takes over and as much as you want to have this playful balance with the work balance, you’re going to end up doing exactly what you’ve always done,” Brady said during the podcast on Sirius XM.

Brady also characterized heading into a new football season like “going away on deployment.”

“I almost look at like a football season like you’re going away on deployment in the military,” Brady said. “And it’s like, ‘Man, here I go again.’ And there’s only one way to do it,” Brady said in the podcast.

Rumors have been running rampant in entertainment headlines, with many speculating that Brady’s return to the NFL after a very brief “retirement,” was the reason that he and his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, are reportedly calling it quits.

The famous quarterback originally announced that he was retiring from the NFL on Feb. 1, but made a return just 40 days later. This is said to have been the last straw for their marriage, which seems to have been on the rocks from the moment he returned to the game, according to TMZ. With that level of focus and dedication concentrated on his career, it can only be assumed that his marriage and home-life suffered tremendously and were frequently sacrificed in favor of football.
