A woman discovered human remains while walking along the banks of the Mississippi River on Saturday.

Crystal Foster was looking for rocks when she found a lower jawbone, the top half of a skull, bones from a ribcage, and other bits of a still-unidentified skeleton in Coahoma County, Mississippi, CNN reported. The remains have been sent to the state crime lab to determine whether they belong to anyone in the missing persons database.

“I just hope that the [Mississippi Bureau of Investigation] works quickly on this case and is able to identify the victim to the dental records at the very least so that way their family can get closure because that would bring me some peace at least,” Foster told an NBC affiliate, noting that, with the water levels so low, it was “only a matter of time before human remains were found.”

The Mississippi River is currently at record-low water levels, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported. (RELATED: Decomposing Body Reportedly Found With Biohazard Material, Possible Weapons Of Mass Destruction Plan)

Similar water shortages have revealed once-lost artifacts and bodies around the world. At least four bodies have been found at Lake Mead in Nevada, where water levels have dropped significantly since the start of the year. In Italy, an enormous unexploded World War II bomb was uncovered as the waters of the River Po dropped to historically low levels.
