A woman was attacked by a group of teenagers on a Metrobus on Monday morning.

The victim, identified as Kyla Thurston, was pushed off a Metrobus in Washington, D.C. and attacked by other passengers, according to Fox 5. Thurston discussed the incident with Fox 5 in an exclusive interview, describing the attack and how she felt the incident was poorly handled by the bus driver and bystanders, according to the interview.

A video of the attack was captured on a cell phone and showed Thurston being pushed and kicked on the bus. The video shows the group attacking and berating Thurston to get off the bus, and as the bus comes to a stop, throw her off. Thurston explained how the altercation began when she got up to give her seat to a young woman with small children.

“I got up to give her the seat, and after that, the kids were cursin’ so I was just like can you all stop the foul language,” she said.

“At that point, the kids became unruly. They started being disrespectful, like saying things to me. Then next thing you know, there were objects being throw at me, and I was just like, ‘Thank You, Lord,’ because throughout the whole incident only thing I could recall was the kids hitting me and kicking me – and I had no defense,” Thurston stated in the interview.

When interviewed, Thurston stated that she had no serious injuries. However, she was left with a few bruises and a hurt neck as well as a ripped jacket from being grabbed, according to the outlet.

Thurston said she was shaken by the attack and she hopes that the transit system will do a better job of protecting its riders in the future. (RELATED: Elderly Asian Woman Beaten, Kicked In The Head By 4 Attackers In San Francisco)

“I wouldn’t want, you know, no one else to have to go through this – it’s emotional just thinking about it,” Thurston said in the interview. She stated that she will continue to ride the bus in the future despite the incident. “I’m going to continue riding Metro because – like I said – I don’t fear nobody but God.”
