Residents are concerned after a smartly dressed mystery man carrying a machete knocked on doors in a Lauderhill, Florida neighborhood early Monday morning.

Video footage from WSVN shows a bald man with glasses holding a machete in his right hand and sporting a tucked-in dress shirt, a tie and dress pants. In the footage, he quickly approaches the front door of one couple’s home at around 5:30 a.m. and uses the machete’s handle to knock on the front door. Then, without waiting, the man turns and leaves.

“I see some random dude knocking on the door with the back of a machete,” a male resident told WSVN. “Then he just disappears as quick as he came.”

A female resident added, “It’s so mysterious that we have no idea whatsoever of his intent.”

The couple who provided the video footage asked to remain unidentified.

The well-dressed, machete-wielding man had also apparently done the same thing to another family’s door across the street a bit earlier. Video footage shows that he again approached the door, knocked on it with the machete’s handle, and quickly left, according to the outlet.

“They saw the same thing that they went up to their front door, the same way and did the same thing,” the female resident told WSVN. “He didn’t seem like someone lost or confused. He seemed very intentional, very business like, like he was dressed for business, just with a machete,” she added.

The residents have no idea who the mystery man is or why he is going door-to-door with a machete, according to WSVN. (RELATED: Police Find Body Of Missing Princeton Student: Report)

Police say that no crime has been committed but have stepped up patrols in the neighborhood and are asking residents to check their cameras to see if anyone can identify the man, according to WSVN.

“I just hope somebody knows who the person is,” the male resident said. “That way we have peace of mind of what happens or — we don’t want the person coming again, right? So we wanna know exactly who it is that way everyone is aware also.”

“We have a 4-year-old son,” the female resident told WSVN. “I’m suddenly a lot more concerned and just with him getting out of the car, you know, myself.”

“Yeah, he’s got us looking at the cameras a lot more now,” said the male resident, according to the outlet.
