Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Friday condemned the attack on Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul, saying he is “horrified” by reports of the assault and is happy to hear Paul Pelosi will make a full recovery.

“Horrified and disgusted by the reports that Paul Pelosi was assaulted in his and Speaker Pelosi’s home last night. Grateful to hear that Paul is on track to make a full recovery and that law enforcement including our stellar Capitol Police are on the case,” McConnell tweeted.

The tweet comes after an intruder broke into the Pelosis’ home and reportedly assaulted Pelosi with a hammer. The attacker is in police custody, Pelosi is supposed to make a full recovery.

Authorities identified the attacker as David DePape, 42, and charged him with numerous crimes, including attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse. (RELATED: ‘Where Is Nancy?’: Assailant Who Attacked Paul Pelosi Was Looking For The House Speaker: REPORT)
