When we arrive at the NFL’s trade deadline every year, we’re usually left with boredom and fulfilled expectations of nothing going to happen. But an already massively entertaining billion-dollar league just pulled off a way to get even better, and that’s by having said trade deadline poppin’!

Throughout recent sports history, it’s usually the Major League Baseball that is the most entertaining in terms of the league’s trade deadlines. The NFL never gave us anything, the NBA would here and there, but it was mainly MLB doing their thing with the constant moves and blockbuster deals being made.

But the NFL — a modern-day Rome with no end in sight — found a way to conquer another element of sports: Trade deadline excitement!

The day got started when the Detroit Lions shipped off tight end T.J. Hockenson to the Minnesota Vikings.

After that is when all hell broke loose, with the next trade being the Pittsburgh Steelers sending wide receiver Chase Claypool to the Chicago Bears.

And the Miami Dolphins made a massive splash on the day as well, landing outside linebacker Bradley Chubb from the Denver Broncos.

That’s not the only big move that the Dolphins made, either. They also traded for San Francisco 49ers running back Jeff Wilson, who has been fantastic as a backup this year. With the pickup of both Chubb and Wilson, Miami are certainly the biggest winners of the trade deadline. So, let’s go ahead and give the Miami Dolphins an official award: “The First Team To Win An NFL Trade Deadline Where Something Actually Happened.”

Solid day for the Miami Dolphins, outright solid, and it’s clear that they’re all in on a Super Bowl run. Don’t be surprised to see them in Glendale, Arizona in February — seriously. This team has officially pushed all of their chips into the middle of the table, bulking up the defense and improving the running game.
