A Minnesota dad allegedly killed and buried his daughter’s boyfriend after accusing him of abusing her.

Police charged 45-year-old Brainerd, Minnesota, resident Michael Lee LaFlex with second-degree intentional homicide in connection to the disappearance of Bryce Brogle, whose body was recovered from a makeshift grave Sunday, the New York Post reported.

Investigators found Brogle’s body “with an apparent gunshot wound to the back of the head,” a criminal complaint stated. An autopsy from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that he was shot from a distance, according to the document. Law enforcement first received word of Brogle’s disappearance on Oct. 28 from LaFlex’s daughter, Cordelia, a probable cause filing noted. Brogle apparently went missing after visiting a storage unit that LaFlex had rented. An investigation into the storage unit found a substance that is suspected to be blood on its concrete floors as well as floor markings “consistent with something being dragged across the floor in a similar width to a sled,” the manuscript read.

A Crow Wing County judge set LaFlex’s bail at an unconditional $2 million Tuesday, the Brainerd Dispatch reported. LaFlex had previously been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim who was mentally impaired or otherwise helpless, according to the outlet.
