Fans weren’t exactly sure why at first, but knew there had to be a reason the Philadelphia Phillies went from hitting five home runs in a single World Series game Tuesday to being completely no-hit in the next.

And now we know: It was Jill Biden! (It also could have been at least partially due to phenom pitch Cristian Javier and his elite performance.)

The first lady attended the game Wednesday night, just roughly 24 hours after the Phillies broke a record for most home runs in the first five innings of a World Series game. The next night, when Jill Biden was there, the Phillies were on the wrong end of championship records, as the Houston Astros pitched the first ever combined no-hitter in the World Series and second ever no-hitter in the World Series in general. Coincidence? Ask fans of baseball, which is one of the most superstitious sports.

The Bidens are fans of Philadelphia sports teams.

President Joe Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, which is in the northeast of the state. Although technically just as close to New York City, a lot baseball fans in the electric city root for Philadelphia sports teams. Joe Biden also grew up in Delaware for a big part of his life, a state with fans that are usually split between Maryland and Philadelphia sports teams, respectively, depending on what part they live in.

Jill Biden was born in Hammonton, New Jersey, the southern part of the state, which is often like a little brother to the Greater Philadelphia area. Growing up, she also lived in other parts of southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.

You can’t help but to take a real liking to this Phillies team, there’s so much swag — though a lot of that got diminished last night. Thanks, Jill! (RELATED: Justin Verlander Accomplishes What No Other Pitcher Has Done In MLB History)
