Republican senatorial candidate Herschel Walker is now seven points ahead of his Democratic rival, incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, according to a Thursday poll.

Walker earned the support of 51% of respondents, compared to 44% for Warnock, per Echelon Insights, which conducted the survey between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2. The Georgia Republican’s seven-point lead is one of the biggest to date, per FiveThirtyEight. (RELATED: Warnock, Walker Clash Over Support For Joe Biden, Scandals)

Walker currently leads Warnock, on average, by 0.5 points, per RealClearPolitics. Other polls, including Remington Research and Rasmussen Reports, show Walker ahead by four and five points, respectively.

Walker’s lead has grown in the race despite allegations that he paid for an ex-girlfriend’s abortion in 2009, seemingly in contrast to his public pro-life stance, the Daily Beast reported. The senatorial candidate denied in the allegations in an Oct. 3 statement, calling them a “flat-out lie.”

Shortly after the Daily Beast report became public, Walker polled 12-points behind Warnock. His standing in polls increased gradually thereafter, particularly following his debate with Warnock on Oct. 14.

Walker’s rise in the polls has sparked concern among Democrats, particularly Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who was caught over a hot microphone telling President Joe Biden that “we’re going downhill” in Georgia.

Republicans have been polling ahead in other Georgia statewide races. In the gubernatorial race, Republican Gov. Brian Kemp is leading Democratic challenger Stacey Abrams, per RealClearPolitics, while Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is also leading his Democratic rival, per 11Alive.

The poll surveyed 465 definite voters in Georgia and had 5.4% margin of error.

Walker and Warnock’s campaigns did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
