Amy Schumer’s Son Was Hospitalized As She Prepared To Host SNL

Amy Schumer took to Instagram on Sunday to inform her 12.3 million followers that her son was rushed to the hospital while she was preparing to host “Saturday Night Live.”

“This was the hardest week of my life. I missed Thursday rehearsals when my son was rushed to ER and admitted for RSV,” Schumer wrote in the photo caption. “I missed Thursday rehearsals when my son was rushed to ER and admitted for RSV.”

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an infection of the lungs and respiratory tract, and can cause “severe infection in some people,” according to The Mayo Clinic.

She went on to acknowledge the other families that are struggling through RSV with their young children. “Shout out to all the parents going though this right now. I got to be with him the whole day at the hospital and the beautiful humans at @nbcsnl couldn’t have been more supportive,” Schumer wrote.

She then turned her attention to her hosting duties and preparations for SNL. “The reason this show is so fun to do isn’t actually the performance or the show itself. It’s getting to spend time with the people there,” Schumer wrote.

“The cast and the writers of course but the people who are behind the scenes making it run smooth are my favorite. The crew! Donna. Jerry. Jodi. Genna. Tom Wally and on and on. Lorne has assembled the most talented people with the kindest hearts,” she added. “Thank you everyone there and to the doctors and nurses who helped us.”

She posted a series of images alongside the long caption, along with a behind-the-scenes video of her time on the set of “Saturday Night Live.”
