CNN’s Don Lemon said Monday that the Republican “message is resonating” with voters ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections while Democrats are polling poorly.

CNN Senior Political Commentator David Axelrod said Democrats “had arguments” about the economy that they failed to make to voters, arguing Republicans “are not offering any solutions on the economy.”

“They are talking about things like impeachment and investigations and so on. And how does that actually address the day-to-day problems that people are facing?” Axelrod said.

“Gloria, the Republican message is resonating,” Lemon replied.

“Of course, it’s inflation,” Gloria Borger, CNN’s chief political analyst said.

“And the question is, is the Democrat messaging resonating?” Lemon asked. “Remember talking with what happened with the Dobbs decision? Everyone said this is going to carry Democrats through. I said I think this may have happened a bit early to resonate in November.”

Borger then said that while suburban women care about abortion, they care about the economy and inflation more. (RELATED: ‘Let’s Be Real About That’: CNN Analyst Says Dems Are On Defense In NYS)

“Who do you trust to handle the economy better? It’s Republicans. They’re running on an issue set that is a Republican issue set, not a Democratic one. They could have turned it around, I think, talking about health care.”

Borger then said voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on both crime and inflation.

A recent Morning Consult/Politico poll found 93% of voters are concerned with inflation while three out of four Democrats polled said the economy would play a role in who they vote for. The same poll found 46% of voters trusted Republicans in Congress to handle inflation while just 37% trust Democrats.
