Since Joe Biden became president and Democrats took control of both houses of Congress, inflation has surged. In 2020, the last year before he was in the White House, inflation averaged just 1.2%. By May of 2021 — that is, within just four months of the Democrat takeover — inflation was already up to 5%.
By January of 2022, inflation was at 7.5% and still rising. It will average higher than 8% this year. That’s the highest inflation we’ve suffered under in four decades. That inflation erodes the value of the dollars in your wallet and your bank account. It reduces your purchasing power. Effectively, it robs you of what you’ve already earned and saved.
Since Biden became president, crime — and, in particular, violent crime — has spiked all over the country. A survey released by the Major Cities Chiefs Association (that is, chiefs of police) reveals that while the number of violent crimes in 70 cities in the first half of 2019 was 193,000 (of which 3,004 were homicides), by the first half of 2022, those same 70 cities were reporting 237,000 violent crimes (of which 4,511 were homicides).
And crime is not just rising in major urban areas, either — crime is rising in suburbs, and rural areas as well.
Since Biden became president, we’ve totally lost control of our southern border. In less than two years, border authorities have apprehended almost 4 million migrants entering the U.S. illegally, with nearly one million estimated “gotaways” during that same time frame. And who knows how many entered without us knowing?
Because Biden is president and Democrats control both houses of Congress, Democrats were able to enact a law without any Republican votes that will provide $80 billion to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over the next decade to allow the IRS to hire 87,000 new employees. Republicans offered an amendment during consideration of the law to strike that funding entirely, and another amendment to ensure that all that new IRS funding didn’t go to audit taxpayers with taxable incomes less than $400,000, but every single Democrat voted against both of those amendments, and both amendments failed.
Biden and his Democrat allies — especially governors like Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan, Andrew Cuomo in New York and Gavin Newsom in California — totally overreacted to COVID-19. They did everything they could to close businesses, shut down schools and force vaccine and mask mandates on us. They interfered with the doctor-patient relationship. They unlawfully interfered with property rights. They said it was about “the science,” but their own behavior proved otherwise — it was then, and always will be, about power and control.
Their actions caused harm, and no one knows when or if our children will ever fully recover.
Biden and his allies worked with left-wing pressure groups and weaponized the FBI and the Department of Justice against parents who objected to their children being taught Critical Race Theory, a neo-Marxist construct in which Marx’s original idea of class conflict has been replaced by racial and ethnic conflict, with, in the words of one study, “teachers making students stand in privilege circles, dividing them into categories of ‘oppressor’ and ‘oppressed’ based solely on their skin color and ethnicity, compelling white students to apologize for their ‘whiteness,’ assigning students to read highly politicized books and essays promoting the controversial 1619 Project and the view that our society is systemically racist, and other things of that ilk.”
Biden’s calamitous withdrawal from Afghanistan left 13 more valiant Americans dead, hundreds of Americans stranded in a Taliban-ruled battlefield, and thousands of native Afghans who had helped American forces at risk of death at the hands of the Taliban. The disaster sent signals to America’s allies and adversaries around the globe — America under Biden was weak, and could be exploited. Authoritarians in Moscow, Beijing, Tehran, Pyongyang and elsewhere took note.
Those same authoritarians also took note of a different kind of American weakness, a self-inflicted weakness in our armed forces — to wit, the Biden administration’s determination to impose on the men and women of our armed forces radical progressive, or “woke,” policies. As former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo — a graduate of West Point — says, “A woke military is a weak military.”
Ideas have consequences. The ideas underlying the policy decisions taken by Biden and his cronies have led to disastrous consequences. It’s time for different ideas. It’s time for new leadership. It’s time for a change.
