People magazine named famous actor Chris Evans as the “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2022.
The 41-year-old is still getting used to carrying the honor of that title and seems shy to talk about it, according to People. Evans deflected the attention from himself in his cover story with People by talking about his mother.
“My mom will be so happy,” Evans told the outlet. “She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.”

Evans shares the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” with others who have passed the baton from previous years. Paul Rudd held the position in 2021, Michael B. Jordan in 2020, and in 2019, People declared John Legend the “Sexiest Man Alive.”
Others who have been named in this category include Idris Elba, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Blake Shelton, Adam Beckham, Chris Hemsworth and Adam Levine, according to People.
Evans quipped about how cool it is that he gets this status now as an adult, and joked about how his middle-school experience was far different from the life he’s living now.
“This would probably be the road to the cool table which I was not at,” Evans said, when asked how this title would have translated in his youth.
“This whole thing is tough to be interviewed about,” Evans told People. “It feels like a weird form of humble bragging.”
Evans also told the magazine he knows he will be singled out by his friends, who will jab at him for being famous and attractive.

The famous actor admitted that using the word “sexy” to describe himself wasn’t comfortable for him, but he graciously accepted the compliment.
“It is something that as I become old and saggy I can look back on and say ‘I remember then…’ ” Evans said. He went on to acknowledge his new position. “I’m lucky to be in the discussion in any capacity.”
Evan’s mom Lisa was far less apprehensive about the declaration of Evans’ good looks.
“I am not surprised at all,” she told People. “Our family will be beside themselves.”
Evans is best known for playing the role of Captain America for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers franchise, and is far more comfortable being a dad to his dog named Dodger than he is being in the spotlight as “The Sexiest Man Alive.”
