A dog carrying a severed arm was spotted Saturday in South Jackson, Mississippi, leading police to discover gruesomely dismembered body parts throughout the weekend.
Jackson Police Department found the charred arm, assumed to have been carried by the dog in a residential neighborhood, near a wooded area and abandoned home, according to WLBT. Further human remains, believed to be from the same body, were discovered after a thorough search commenced of the area over the weekend, the outlet reported. A full set of remains has yet to be found, as the victim’s head and an arm were still missing as of Monday morning.

The body is believed to belong to a white male victim, and it’s currently unclear whether the body parts were found on the same day, the following, or if the victim was dismembered prior to his death, WLBT noted.
Democratic Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba described the case as “one of disgust,” according to the New York Post.
“That is a very graphic and brutal picture,” Lumumba said. “Anytime anyone is harmed in any way – the (mutilation) of a body – of course my reaction is one of disgust, is one of concern. (RELATED: Woman Finds Human Remains As Drought Dries Up Mississippi River)
Investigations are currently taking place across a number of locations in Jackson, Jackson Investigative Service Bureau commander Abraham Thompson told WJTV.
