Jennifer Aniston put years of pregnancy speculation to rest during a candid interview with Allure and opened up about her very personal struggle to conceive.

Fans and media outlets have dragged Aniston for years with constant questions about why she didn’t journey into motherhood. In a rare and candid interview, Aniston set the record straight and revealed she struggled with years of failed fertility treatments. “All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it,” Aniston said during her interview with Allure.

Aniston broke down the barriers and put the rumors to rest and described her challenges with conceiving. “I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,” Aniston said.

“I would say my late 30s, 40s, I’d gone through really hard shit, and if it wasn’t for going through that, I would’ve never become who I was meant to be,” Aniston said.

“That’s why I have such gratitude for all those shitty things. Otherwise, I would’ve been stuck being this person that was so fearful, so nervous, so unsure of who they were.”

Aniston admitted to being deeply affected by publications that made assumptions about her. Some assumed she was career-focused and too selfish to explore motherhood, while others blamed her inabiltiy or unwillingness to have a baby for the demise of her marriage to Brad Pitt. Aniston said the endless speculation frustrated and saddened her, but she has since learned to move past it. “All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard,” she said. She described the scathing statements made about her, and was particularly affected by the “narrative that I was just selfish,” Aniston said.

“I just cared about my career. And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point,” Aniston said.

“And now, I don’t f*cking care,” Aniston told Allure.

Looking back at those difficult times, Aniston admitted to having a lingering wish.

“I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it,” Aniston said.

“So here I am today. The ship has sailed,” she said.

Aniston said she has found a new sense of peace and tranquility in knowing that having a child will simply not be part of her journey.

“I have zero regrets,” she said. “I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, ‘Can I? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.’ I don’t have to think about that anymore.”
