Republican Gubernatorial candidate Joe Lombaro defeated Democratic Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, multiple outlets called Friday.
A number of outlets called the race for Lombardo with 49.2% of the vote and 465,577 votes compared to 47% with Sisolak receiving 444,361 votes. Polling had Lombardo and Sisolak neck and neck just days before election day.

“Crime and safety; criminal justice and immigration policies; abortion; the economy, inflation, gasoline prices and housing costs; education; and health care and a state-managed public health insurance option” were the key issues in the race, according to the Associate Press.

Sisolak campaigned on his support for abortion and gun control policies, such as banning bump stocks and requiring background checks on all gun sales, his website states. (RELATED: GOP Projected To Score Four Gubernatorial Wins In Midterms)
Meanwhile, Lombardo focused on safety, gun rights, education and taxes. He also accused Sisolak of corruption while Sisolak was governor. Lombardo was a police officer in Las Vegas in 1988 and served two terms as Clark County sheriff.
