Charlotte Hornets’ All-Star LaMelo Ball is scheduled to make his season debut Saturday against the Miami Heat.

According to NBA insider for the Athletic, Shams Charania, Ball has been cleared to make his season debut, a pre-season ankle injury that he suffered October sidelined him.

The return of Ball is a blessing for the 3-10 Hornets.

Charlotte has looked lost without the star point-guard on the floor. The Hornets are currently on a seven-game losing streak and are 2.5 games out from the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, according to ESPN.

With there being five-and-a-half months left in the NBA regular season, there’s enough time for Ball to give the Hornets back their sting and guide them into the playoffs. Considering how Ball is one of the best ball players (no pun intended) in the world today, he should be capable of changing the trajectory of the Charlotte’s season. Ball has been excellent two years into his NBA career. He was named Rookie of the Year during the 2020-2021 season and was selected to the All-Star game just last season. His passing skills are magician-like and his ability to knock down the three-point shot sets him apart from other players. His play is worth the price of admission because night after night, he does mesmerizing and extraordinary things on the floor.

His skillset reminds me of Magic Johnson’s, if Magic Johnson had a reliable three-point shot in his arsenal.

There is no doubt in my mind that Ball will lead Charlotte back into the postseason, again. He is too special not to.
