Twitter CEO Elon Musk appeared to axe a Twitter employee who tried to one-up him on the social media site.
Musk apologized Sunday for Twitter “being super slow in many countries.”
“App is doing >1000 poorly batched RPCs just to render a home timeline!” Musk added.
Btw, I’d like to apologize for Twitter being super slow in many countries. App is doing >1000 poorly batched RPCs just to render a home timeline!

That’s when Twitter engineer Eric Frohnhoefer quote-tweeted Musk and said he had spent “6 years working on Twitter for Android and [could] say this [was] wrong.”
Musk responded, asking Frohnhoefer, “What is the right number” and what Frohnhoefer has done to fix the problem.
An unidentified self-described developer jumped in the comments and said Frohnhoefer should take the issue up privately with Musk.
“Trying to one up him in public while he is trying to learn and be helpful makes you like like a spiteful self serving dev.”
I have been a developer for 20 years. And I can tell you that as the domain expert here you should inform your boss privately.

Frohnhoefer responded and said Musk “should ask questions privately. Maybe using Slack or email.”
Another user then chimed in and said to Musk “with this kind of attitude, you probably don’t want this guy on your team.”
“He’s fired,” Musk tweeted.

Musk has fired thousands of employees since taking over at Twitter, clearing out the Board of Directors. CEO Parag Agrawal was removed from his position, as was Chief Financial Officer Ned Legal and former head of legal, trust and safety Vijaya Gadde.
Musk has additionally laid off half of Twitter’s 8,000 employees, saying he had “no choice” based on the company’s financial losses.
