REPORT: Former SNL Star Will Undergo Surgery After Brutal Attack

Former “Saturday Night Live” alum Chris Redd will reportedly undergo surgery to repair his nose after he was savagely attacked outside a New York City nightclub Oct. 26.

Redd’s recovery will require surgical intervention and now that the majority of the swelling has subsided, he’s preparing to permanently repair his nose, according to TMZ. The damage to his nose was so severe that one of the bones was cracked in three places. The grueling procedure will require surgeon’s to re-break Redd’s nose in order to place the bone back in place and restore the shape of his nose to its proper form, according to TMZ.

Redd’s surgery will require him to be under general anesthesia for roughly 2-3 hours under the care of specialized surgeons. Sources close to the comedian have confirmed that the process is strictly to repair the damage. He has no plans to reshape his nose to cosmetically change his appearance, according to TMZ. Redd was attacked outside of the Comedy Cellar in New York City while attempting to enter for a scheduled performance at the venue. Surveillance video captured the brutal attack, and it was later established that the assailants punched him with wearing brass knuckles, according to TMZ.

The attackers attempted to steal Redd’s chains during the incident. No arrests have been made, and police continue to search for the suspects involved, according to TMZ.
