More Than 20 Police Recruits Injured After Driver Run Overs Group During Morning Jog

More than 20 police recruits were injured after a driver plowed into the group during their morning jog in California, according to reports.

The incident unfolded around 6:30 a.m., near the intersection of Mills Avenue and Telegraph Road in Whittier, the California Highway Patrol said, according to Fox 11. The recruits were part of the Sheriff’s Training Academy and Regional Services Center, which is less than two miles from the site of the accident.

At least 22 recruits were hit, with 14 suffering minor injuries, four had moderate injuries and five were critically injured, Fox 11 reported. Authorities have detained at least one person, according to Fox 11. (RELATED: Man Who Ran Over And Killed Conservative Teen Charged With Murder)

The 22-year-old suspect underwent a sobriety test, according to the report, though the results are unclear.
