A plane transporting 53 rescue dogs made an emergency crash landing at a golf club in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, according to WISN ABC.

The twin-engine cargo plane was transporting the three people and a handful of rescue dogs from Louisiana to Wisconsin shelters Tuesday morning. The crash landing occurred at the Western Lakes Golf Club. All of the people and dogs luckily survived, according to WISN ABC. The pilot and co-pilot are now out of the hospital and all of the dogs are reportedly safe, although a few have some scrapes and bruises. The Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) of Waukesha County currently has 21 of the dogs, which they are calling “Western Lakes Loves,” according to WISN ABC.

Seven of the dogs are already up for adoption, the rest of which the shelter hopes will be ready for adoption by Friday. The dogs are currently under observation at HAWS to ensure that there are no medical concerns, according to FOX 6.

The adoption fees are reportedly covered for these dogs, according to WISN ABC.

The cause of the plane crash was determined as a weather-related issue, according to WISN ABC.

The plane reportedly struck trees when it crash landed and lost its wings, spilling roughly 300 gallons of jet fuel in the process. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was alerted and sent to the scene of the accident, according to WISN ABC.
