Tennessee Titans’ offensive coordinator Todd Downing was reportedly arrested early Friday morning for speeding and driving under the influence.

The arrest, confirmed by the Tennessee Highway Patrol to NFL.com, comes hours after the Titans huge 27-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers on “Thursday Night Football.” The game improved their record to 7-3 this season.

This is a major setback for the Titans after what was their most impressive win of the season.

It sucks how this is overshadowing Tennessee’s upset victory over Green Bay but to be driving intoxicated is just plain stupid. Not only is it hazardous for the life of the drunk driver, but it puts many innocent lives in danger. (RELATED: Deshaun Watson Back At Practice Amid 11-Game Ban)

I believe the National Football League should punish Downing with steep disciplinary actions, but I don’t think that he should be fired from his job. The reason being is that people in life certainly make mistakes. No one is perfect and everyday people do things that are dumb. Even though Downing is a professional football coach, he is no different than anyone else. He is still a human who is bound to screw up and make mistakes.

If the Titans decided to fire Downing after this, I believe it would be kicking him while he’s already down.
