Daily Caller co-founder and Fox News host Tucker Carlson highlighted Tuesday a physician from Vanderbilt University Medical Center admitting to the profitability of gender reassignment surgeries for children.
“If you were a muckraking reporter with a conscience, that would be a story of a lifetime,” Carlson said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “It’s all there on tape. A doctor admitting they’re mutilating the genitals of children for money. Naming the dollar amounts. How could you pass that up? Tucker played a 2018 clip of physician Dr. Shayne Taylor from the Nashville-based hospital sharing profit details.
“These surgeries make a lot of money,” Dr. Taylor says in the video, elaborating that female-to-male chest reconstruction could “bring in $40,000.” She further explained that a patient on hormone treatment who visits the hospital only a few times a year could bring in several thousand dollars.
“It actually makes money for the hospital,” she added.
Matt Walsh posted the entire video to Twitter in September, which gives further details about the dollars the surgeries generate for VUMC.
“Vanderbilt opened its trans clinic in 2018,” Walsh wrote. “During a lecture the same year, Dr. Shayne Taylor explained how she convinced Nashville to get into the gender transition game. She emphasized that it’s a ‘big money maker,’ especially because the surgeries require a lot of ‘follow ups.’”
Following Walsh’s social media post, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Sen. Marsha Blackburn are seeking an investigation into the clinic, WKRN reported.
