MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough admitted Monday that there is a serious crisis at the southern border, calling it “unbelievable.”

Scarborough was discussing the Arizona senate and gubernatorial race. Both seats were won by Democrats, incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly and Katie Hobbs, respectively.

Scarborough then said the topic of immigration should’ve helped Republicans considering how bad things are at the border.

“You know, you look and you see that immigration has been used,” Scarborough said. “It was used in 2018. Remember the caravans. People with leprosy, they said ‘oh, lepers are coming to the United States and bringing leprosy’ and Trump actually deploys troops, keeps them away from their families through the holidays because he’s thinking that’s gonna work. Republicans get crushed in ’20. They tried the convoys and the caravans in ’20. It didn’t work. They lost the House. They lost the Senate.”

“It didn’t work in 2022. My god, you would have thought it would have worked in 2022 because illegal immigration in the southern border is crazy right now if you go to the southern border.(RELATED: Designating The Cartels As Terrorists Could Worsen Illegal Immigration, Experts Say)

“There is such a humanitarian crisis there and the numbers are just unbelievable and yet a Democrat wins the Senate race. A Democrat wins the governor’s race,” he continued.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered a record of 2.3 million migrants in fiscal year 2022 and more than 230,000 at the start of fiscal year 2023.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who is vying for the Speaker position in January, threatened Department of Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas with impeachment if he does not step down. Mayorkas has insisted the border is “secure.”
