NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars gave their fans more than they bargained for when their mascot joined the game dressed in a skimpy Speedo.

It may have been unseasonably warm at TIAA Bank Field, but fans agree the team’s mascot, Jaxon de Ville, took things too far by sporting a tiny American flag-themed bathing suit bottom to Sunday’s game. Social media was flooded with fans complaining about the yellow mascot’s unconventional attire.

Jaxon put on a show for fans by slapping his chest and giving a few hip thrusts toward the cameras. He sported his usual jaguar head, but the patriotic swimwear combined with his actions to produce an unpleasant game-day experience for viewers.

Jax stormed onto the scene during the second quarter of the game against the Baltimore Ravens, shortly after running back JaMycal Hasty scored on a 28-yard catch and run, according to SI. When cameras spotted the strange costume and even more disturbing actions of the team’s mascot, fans pushed back and poked fun at the awkward moment. “I’ll never be able to unsee the #Jaguars mascot,” sports journalist Ari Meirov tweeted. That sentiment was echoed by sports journalist Rodger Sherman, who wrote, “the fact that Jaguars mascot Jaxson De Ville still feels the need to wear underwear when otherwise nude implies that he has genitalia which must be covered in public,” to his Twitter page.

NFL Stats tweeted about the bizarre dance and costume by posting a comical message to their 142,000 Twitter followers. “I had to see the Jaguars mascot, so now you do too,” the account wrote.

Jax hasn’t revealed the reasoning behind his disturbing outfit and gyrating actions, and fans hope he never brings this up again.
