The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) uncovered over 50 alleged illegal immigrants Monday in a shipping container, accusing five of the men of human smuggling.

The Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) identified a semi-trailer that law enforcement suspected of harboring illegal immigrants at around 8:00 p.m. in Webb County, Texas, Fox News reported. As CID agents closed in on the vehicle, a wave of migrants poured out of the shipping container. Law enforcement managed to nab five male interlopers, according to the outlet.

The container allegedly carried 50 additional people, including 34 men, 9 women and eight juveniles, CID spokesman Christopher Olivarez told Fox. The migrants reportedly came from Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador, the outlet noted. (RELATED: Buddhist Monks Leave Thai Temple Empty After Each One Tests Positive For Meth)

DPS had halted a smuggling attempt in September that saw two contrabandists attempt to fly over a dozen illegal aliens over the border to Houston, Texas. DPS reportedly stopped the smuggling attempt in Edinburg, Texas, along the border.

Following the incident, the alleged smugglers apparently tried to escape in two separate vehicles. During the attempt, a DPS vehicle was struck.

The 13 illegal aliens reportedly came from the Dominican Republic and El Salvador, according to a tweet from DPS.
