HBO Max just dropped another full-length trailer for “The Last of Us,” and it looks like it’ll be the next great apocalypse show.

In the day since HBO Max released the latest trailer for “The Last of Us,” it racked up almost 8 million YouTube views. This is certainly a hotly anticipated show, based on the terrifying 2013 video game of the same name.

“The Last Of Us,” which premieres on January 15, comes to us from the award-winning creator of hit-series “Chernobyl,” a harrowing depiction of the very real nuclear meltdown in Ukraine near the end of the Cold War. But whereas there were no laughs and certainly nothing to be happy about in “Chernobyl” (despite it being one of the best shows of all time), it looks like “The Last of Us” will have at least moments of lightness intertwined with its horrifying, violent story of a post-apocalyptic America.

The story follows main characters Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they struggle to survive their journey across the country after a pandemic wiped out huge swaths of the population. We all know and love Pascal from his portrayal of DEA Agent Javier Peña in “Narcos,” and it looks like Ramsey will be the source of humor in this new endeavor. It’s been a while since we got a new apocalypse show, so I am absolutely ready to escape into the horrendous world cultivated by the minds at HBO Max and the team at Naughty Dog, who developed the original PlayStation game. You can watch the latest trailer here:
