Wow, how the mighty have fallen.

Georgetown University — yes, that Georgetown University, you know, the Hoyas, the same program that used to dominate the landscape of college basketball — has gotten so low they’re now giving out free tickets in order to have some kind of fan base there. Just sad.

The basketball team’s official Twitter account announced Dec. 5 that all residents of Washington, D.C., can attend the Dec. 7 game against Siena College for free, and all they have to do is show their ID.

How in the hell did they go from Patrick Ewing to this?

Wait, I can’t even say that, because Patrick Ewing is the damn head coach of Georgetown!

Which brings me to this question: How on earth are they not bringing in recruits and playing a winning brand of basketball?

It makes zero sense to me. I’ve already mentioned how they have Patrick Ewing and his legendary status as their head coach, you have the Washington, D.C., area and the entire DMV at your disposal, you have the ‘Georgetown’ brand that was pretty damn sexy back in the day and still can be, you’re in the luxurious Georgetown neighborhood, they even have the Jordan brand on their uniforms for goodness sake — how on earth are the Hoyas so bad? Georgetown is currently 4-5, with losses to Loyola Marymount and American, so just imagine how much worse things are going to get when they begin Big East play.

On top of that, they were ranked 52nd in the 2022 college basketball recruiting team rankings, and in the 2023 rankings, they’re listed at 62nd, so we’re looking at a dark future for this program as well.

There is literally nothing poppin’ off with the Georgetown brand right now.

Now I’m curious to see if and when they pull the trigger on firing a legend (Patrick Ewing), which is another move in itself that will darken the Hoyas’ situation.

Dark days ahead for a once iconic powerhouse.
